NewYear.jpg

Enjoy a stylish, relaxing fully-catered New Year house party with your friends.  Book The Old Vicarage exclusively for a group of eight to twelve people.  Sit around and chat, go for a brisk walk, come back to cream tea in front of a roaring log fire.  Book a massage or holistic treatment with the in-house therapist.  Plan a murder mystery or dance the night away with your favourite music.  Enjoy fabulous food at beautifully laid tables.  No shopping for food, no cooking rota or clearing up to do.  Just relax and enjoy yourselves.  Your meals and activities will be tailored to suit you.  Here is our suggestion.

Tuesday, 29 December 2009
Arrive after lunch, settle in to your rooms and have afternoon tea with freshly made scones, clotted cream and Vicarage strawberry or raspberry jam.

The evening meal can be served in the informal setting of the Old Boiler House. Start with assorted antipasti: olives, grilled tomatoes, grilled aubergine, artichoke hearts, mozarella with basil pesto, salami, air-dried beef.   Have a main course of Italian beef stew served on tagliatelle, accompanied with green beans, mixed salad and crispy bread   For dessert try Judith's Vicarage apple and blackberry crisp with clotted cream ice cream and custard.  A slice of a tree that was felled in the front garden provides the board for an assortment of English cheeses with Vicarage damson cheese and Vicarage chutneys

Wednesday, 30 December 2009
Start the day with a full English breakfast before setting off on your day's activities which could be
    • shopping at the sales in Bicester Village, Milton Keynes, Leamington Spa, Stratford-upon-Avon or Banbury
    • clay pigeon shooting with instruction on the outskirts of the village
    • visit nearby National Trust homes that are open during the holiday season
    • visit the magnificent house and art gallery at Compton Verney
    • visit Warwick Castle or Shakespeare's Stratford
    • play golf at nearby Hellidon Lakes or Staverton courses
    • take a short or long walk using our hand-drawn annotated maps of local footpaths

Come back for afternoon tea and perhaps a massage with our in-house therapist.

In the evening you can participate in a murder mystery.  You choose the theme and the setting, we provide the food and decorations to carry it through.  Previous guests have had to find the murderer on a 1920s cruise ship, an American wild West saloon, a prohibition speakeasy, an English country house. If you prefer, an evening of games or disco can be arranged

Thursday, 31 December 2009

Again a full English breakfast to start the day, or perhaps pancakes and maple syrup or eggs Benedict, or scrambled eggs and smoked salmon.  Choose your activities for the day or stay in front of the huge log fire chatting or reading a good book.

You will probably choose black tie dress for New Year's Eve but the choice is yours.  Start the evening with a champagne and canape reception in the drawing room before your 6-course gala New Year's Eve dinner in the dining room, specially decorated for the evening and warmed with a real fire in the fireplace.  Bring along your favourite music and dance and laugh the night away.
